AI Disclosure

Last updated: July 5, 2026

deCuisine uses artificial intelligence to power some of its Pro features. This page explains what those features do, what happens to your input, and their limitations.

1. You Are Interacting With AI

When you use Sous Chef (our AI chat assistant) or request AI substitution suggestions, you are interacting with an automated system, not a human. Responses are generated by a third-party large language model and may be wrong.

2. Our AI Features

Sous Chef (AI recipe & meal-plan chat)

Available to Pro subscribers at /ai. Sous Chef is a chat assistant that helps you generate recipes, collections of recipes, and full weekly meal plans from a natural-language description (e.g. “plan my meals for the week” or “give me 5 quick pasta recipes”). It is restricted to cooking, recipe, and meal-planning topics and will decline unrelated requests. To improve results, it may: check your existing recipe collection to avoid suggesting duplicates, consider your saved dietary preferences and excluded ingredients, and search our ingredient database to prefer common, grocery-store-friendly ingredient names. Generated recipes are automatically enriched with an estimated nutrition breakdown where enough ingredients can be matched to our database. Sous Chef is subject to a daily request limit and a monthly token limit shown in the chat interface.

AI Substitution Suggestions

Available to Pro subscribers on recipe pages that contain an ingredient you have marked as excluded in your dietary preferences. On request, this feature sends the recipe name, description, and the specific ingredients you need to avoid to the AI model, which suggests a replacement ingredient for each one, along with a brief explanation and a confidence level (high, medium, or low).

3. Who Processes Your Input

Both features send data to Anthropic (maker of the Claude models) for processing via its API. For Sous Chef, this includes your chat messages, your dietary preferences and excluded ingredients, and summaries of your existing recipes (title, cuisine, main ingredients, and time) used to personalize responses and avoid duplicate suggestions. For substitution suggestions, this includes the recipe title, description, and the ingredients you need replaced. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle this data generally, and Anthropic’s own privacy and data-use terms for how they handle it on their side.

4. Limitations — Please Read

  • AI-generated recipes, meal plans, ingredient lists, and substitution suggestions can be inaccurate, incomplete, or simply wrong — including estimated nutrition information and suggested ingredient quantities
  • AI output is not medical, allergen, or food-safety advice. As described in our Terms of Service, you are solely responsible for verifying ingredients and allergens (including cross-contamination risks), safe food handling, and safe cooking temperatures before relying on any AI-generated or human-generated recipe
  • A substitution suggestion’s confidence rating reflects how well-established the swap is, not a guarantee it is safe for your specific allergies or medical conditions
  • If you have allergies, dietary restrictions, or medical conditions, consult a qualified professional before preparing any recipe, AI-generated or otherwise

5. Usage Limits and Access

Sous Chef and AI Substitution Suggestions are available to Pro subscribers. Sous Chef enforces a daily request limit and a monthly token limit to keep the feature sustainable and prevent abuse; your remaining usage is shown in the chat interface and resets on the schedule described there.

6. Your Choices

These AI features are optional. You can create and edit recipes, meal plans, and grocery lists manually without ever using Sous Chef or AI substitution suggestions, and can stop using either feature at any time.
